Interns: Monteillet Fromagerie is a vibrant community of work and life in the heart of Washington wheat country. Set on 31 acres with beautiful pasture for raising free range goats, sheep, poultry, piggys and access to the river where we humans swim in the summer heat and sauna in the winter at the log sauna. As a true ecosystem centered on our farmstead artisanal cheesemaking operation, we strive to foster a lifestyle that is creative, both physically and spiritually, as well as economically. Aside from our production of traditional hand ladeled chevres (goat) and brebis (sheep) milk cheeses, we have ideas and ambitions for a myriad of farm projects, from creating a cooking pavillion, complete with a cob oven, grilling area kitchen, and a shady timber-frame pergola over the patio. anyone up for the challenge? Great pizza creations ahead! We have opportunities for adventures in cheesework as well as milking chores, animal husbandry, organic gardening, stream restoration tree planting along our meandering Touchet River, and special art projects ( Joan is a Glass Artist and Ceramist) We prefer volunteers who can stay and learn with us for at least two months or more as we have so much to accomplish and share. Please give us a call ahead to arrange your stay. |
